RITUAL TEMPLE DANCE

The Ritual Temple Dance Workshop is a journey into women’s ceremonial dance. Inspired from the temples of Egypt, secret gardens of Persia, and the temples of India. This special gathering will encompass the magic of the High Priestess, the devotion of the Deva Dasi, the transcendence of the Dakini and the celestial realms of the Apsara. The workshop is a creative mix of Goddess exploration from various traditions through sacred movement, connecting us with long lineages of women who have channeled mystical energies through dance.

Zinnia teaches a unique combination of yoga and Indian dance in Ibiza and travels the globe teaching beauty and sensuality. As a dancer and teacher, Zinnia has a natural gift for bringing out the sensual dancer in everyone.

Zinnia’s upbringing taught her that dance was important to health and well-being, and her dance training began with ballet at an early age. She went on to learn Indian temple dance, elements of Odissi and Bharatnatyam, folk, classic Bollywood, and Indian dance drama as well as modern ballet, jazz, tap, belly dancing and contemporary American sacred dance inspired by Ruth St. Denis, Isadora Duncan and Martha Graham. She has performed in the Kennedy Center for First Lady Hilary Clinton and in cultural programs around the world.

Zinnia is devoted to teaching the dance traditions of the East, treating dance as prayer and spiritual offering. Sacred Dance is a form of Ancient Temple Dance. The dancer becomes a channel for sacred Shakti energy to move through her body, and open her to higher levels of being.
Zinnia guides this experience in Ibiza. She transforms her students through light, music, song, yoga, dance, ocean and sensual smell. She enjoys expressing the vibrant styles of Indian and Oriental dance - Kathak, Odissi, Mohinyattam, Persian and Sufi. And while each style is different from one another, they all bring the body into wholeness.
